Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Distribution announced on Wednesday 21 December that, following a competitive tendering process, it has appointed Freedom Group of Companies Ltd as the design and build contractor in the next stage of its £41mn programme to accelerate the net zero transition.
The programme consists of 12 network investment projects that have received approval from Ofgem and will unlock over 122MW of additional network capacity. SSEN Distribution and Freedom are expected to move into the detailed design and construction phase for all 12 projects in January 2023, with a view to complete all projects by July 2024.
