On Thursday 9 March, the Climate Change Committee published a new report, Delivering a reliable decarbonised power system. The report illustrates what a reliable, resilient, decarbonised electricity supply system could look like in 2035, and the steps required to achieve it. It provides new insights and new advice on how this can be achieved by 2035, using real weather data and hourly analysis of GB’s power system. It makes 25 recommendations to improve the prospects of delivery, including new low carbon back-up generation, smart shifting of consumer demand and new storage solutions.
