On Tuesday 5 March, the Energy Security and Net Zero (ESNZ) Committee reported it has opened an inquiry into how the structure of the energy sector could be reformed to encourage greater decarbonisation, keep prices affordable for customers, and maintain a secure and reliable supply. The Committee will also examine the current approach to regulation, see if there are any barriers preventing reformation, and whether enough resources are going into putting the right long-term energy policies in place. It noted that the inquiry is currently accepting evidence, with submissions requested by 19 April.
