On Wednesday 1 May, the Association for Renewable Energy and Clean Technology (REA) published its draft response to the government’s Review of Electricity Market Arrangements (REMA) second consultation. In its response, it states that it supports the development of a deemed Contracts for Difference (CfD), the use of minima within the Capacity Market, and the evolution of the corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) market. However, it highlights that the government must align such evolution of the market with the 2035 net zero power system target, stating that new unabated gas generation should not now be supported. The response also encourages the government to be certain of the benefits of zonal locational pricing before proceeding to implement it.
